Why use a prox?

Privacy. The Alt Path proxy service offers privacy in two ways. First, when you surf the web through this prox service your IP address will be hidden from the sites that you visit. Second, the network that you are located in will not be able to detect what web sites that you are visiting.

How does a prox work?

A prox service or server is a service that provides you, the client a way to make indirect network connections.

Basically when you make a web request through a prox, you are asking the prox to go and get the web site for you rather than you doing it directly. Because you are not making a direct request to the web site you wish to surf, it looks to your network like you are simply visiting the Alt Path server.
